BugLife Pty Ltd is a Francistown-based circular economy enterprise dedicated to transforming Botswana’s organic waste into high-value products. Established in 2022, the company harnesses innovative, solar-powered Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) technology to convert organic waste into sustainable insect protein for animal feed and nutrient-rich organic fertilizer. This approach directly addresses two major challenges: the environmental and health hazards posed by disposing 70% of Botswana’s 18,000 annual tons of organic waste in landfills, and the economic burden of importing 90% of the country’s animal feed and fertilizers, costing BWP 500 million annually.
