Mozambique is highly exposed to recurring natural disaster shocks, including floods, storms, and drought. In addition to their impact on economic growth and loss of lives and livelihoods, natural disasters, especially floods, put considerable strain on government finances, with frequent requirements for the reconstruction of damaged infrastructure and support to the affected households.
