National Climate Policy Integration and Institutional Implementation Capacity

Climate change, directly and indirectly, impacts food systems, food trade, food and nutrition security, and the attainment of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, such as achieving zero hunger, ending poverty, ensuring healthy lives, and promoting well-being. Evidence shows an increased intensity and occurrence of observed extreme climate changes such as heavy precipitation, agricultural and ecological droughts, heatwaves, and tropical cyclones. Recent El Nino and La Nina phenomenon across the continent driving atypical drought in southern and Western African regions are testament to the reality of climate change.
